Antique Collection
The main part of the collection is from the Moro Weapons
of the Philippines: Kris, Barong, Kampilan, Gunong and
others. Additional pieces of the collection are from the Northern Philippine Igorots. There are some pieces from the Indonesian section, Japanese and Other Cultures.
This collection is from Cecil B. Quirino, owner of Kris
Cutlery.
I started collecting in 1985. In 1988, my interests on Moro swords of the Philippines led me to start a
field research in Sulu in the Southern Philippines. Trips to Java Indonesia became part of the research in early 1990s. The possible influence of weapon development and martial arts between the two countries
was quite important in the study. My Moro sword
collection became one of the tools used in understanding and identification of the different styles/designs. The field research came to an end sometime in 1998.
The Antique Collection sale is an on going process
where additional items will be posted regularly until
the inventory is depleted. Due to time constraint we are unable to provide more information on items not yet listed on the website.
